World Premiere of SAILAU at Doc Edge Festival in New Zealand

We’re thrilled to announce that SAILAU had its world premiere at New Zealand’s International Documentary Film Festival, Doc Edge — and it was a sold-out screening!

New Zealand, with its rich traditions of sailing and deep roots in waka (canoe) navigation, was a fitting and meaningful location to launch a film about the World’s First Circumnavigation of the Island of New Guinea in a Traditional Sailing Canoe.

SAILAU is more than an adventure film — it’s a celebration of Melanesian maritime culture, resilience, and cross-cultural friendship. Our goal was to redefine the adventure genre by telling a bold, positive story from New Guinea, the world’s second-largest island. Judging by the response from the Doc Edge audience, SAILAU delivered exactly that.
